Laser Cutting

We have two laser engravers/cutters here at Laser Made Designs. The machines are capable of cutting a wide range of non-metallic materials such as:

Ply, MDF, Solid Woods, Acrylic/Perspex, Cork, Card, Mylar Stencil Material, Fabric, Leather and many more. Please contact us to discuss materials.

The thickness the laser can cut through depends on the specific material being cut. We can generally cut up to 10mm thick Acrylic and 9mm thick wood.

Our Epilog laser cutting/engraving machines can accept workpieces/materials up to 1219mm x 914mm (4ft x 3ft) and can accommodate items up to 311mm deep (12.25").

Laser Engraving

A laser cutter/Engraver is an extreamly versatile machine that can engrave a huge variety of materials, there are too many to list but here are a few common materials we work with on a daily basis:

Solid Wood, Ply Wood, Veneer, MDF, Acrylic/Perspex, Anodised Aluminium, Corian, Delrin, Glass, Mirror, Fabric, Leather, Marble, Rubber, Cork, Awards and Many More.

If you have a specific material not listed please contact us. We unfortunately cannot work with any material containing PVC as this causes toxic and corrosive gases which is harmful to both us and our equipment.

Our High-speed lasers are capable of engraving extremely fine detail (up to 1200 dpi). We can manipulate the machine settings for each work piece to ensure the finish you require is achieved.

We also can engrave cylindrical objects using our rotary attachment up to a maximum diameter of 280mm (11"). This is usually used to engraving glassware such as tumblers or Champagne flutes.

We are unable to directly mark onto uncoated metals but we can do this usually a special marking compound, please see the Laser Metal Marking section.

UV Printing

Our Roland UV flatbed printer is capable of printing directly onto a wide range of materials. Most flat materials can be printed to a very high-quality finish. Some slightly curved items, such as golf balls and pens, can also be printed using this method.

Unlike most printers, our UV printer has full CMYK colour printing abilities but also can print in white and clear gloss ink.

The maximum size of the printable area is 508mm x 330mm with a maximum thickness of 100mm.

UV Print and Laser Cut

Our laser cutters are equipped with onboard camera registration systems. This enables us to full colour UV print (including white!) any design onto a material, then accurately laser cut the print to your required shape.

This method works fantastically well for bespoke jewellery, Christmas decorations, and much more.

Signage

From small signage to full-size shop signs, we can work with you to create a sign to suit the style of your business. Using both UV printing and Laser Cutting manufacturing techniques we can achieve completely unique signage for your business.

Metal Laser Marking

Although we can mark onto coated metals such as anodised aluminium, our lasers are unable to directly mark onto bare metals. This requires a different type of machine. We can, however, use a laser bonding compound which produces a permanent black mark on many metals. We often use this method to mark stainless steel plates. Please contact us for more information about this method of marking metals.

Design Service

Many of our customers come to us with digital artwork which we can directly load into our production software but we also offer a full design service. Provide us with information or even a rough sketch of what it is you're after and we will use our design software to make a laser/print-ready file.

If you have your own design files you'd like us to work with, our software can accept the majority of file types used in graphic design such as .AI, .CDR, .PDF formats.
